He has a point, TreeFitty is looking way too much into it. The 2405 idiots look too much into things. The people believing that obvious hints are purposely put into screens/trailers look too much into it (most of the stuff is rediculous). Trying to match buildings to tie the whole map together isn't looking too much into it. Sorry if both of you are not old enough to appreciate effort. One day you'll know what that is. Oh and since I don't have a life, I'm just going to log out and fap for a few hours while pretending that I'm not still looking at the forums or GTA V pictures. Then I'll log back in later and pretend I spent time finding all kinds of things in the screens. Hooray for it not being a school night!

Are there any open gas lines around the real Los Angeles? The Los Angeles aqueduct maybe?

Joe_King...you're wrong. They were optional. Getting 100% completion is optional. If you dont need to do them to finish the main storyline...I'd say its optional. Im pretty sure when you do turn off your phone, the important calls to advance the story still come up. (might be wrong about this, but meh) and speak for yourself what makes people excited. Assuming you can play tennis, I think it would be a cool feature. I loved mario tennis lol. And their ping pong game got really good reviews hahaha. So yah, it would be cool. Im surprised bones was the first to mention basketball in SA. I was going to earlier then decided I didnt really give enough of a fuck to post in this topic. but after some kind of dumb posts I feel compelled to. And I wouldnt worry about R* adding "really awesome things" to GTA V. Itll be there.

i hope they stick taxi missions back in! that was always a fun time waster.

I can't believe how many people are complaining about the trees. Yes the trees are shit in GTA IV but it doesn't make the experience of playing it any less enjoyable. There's already an obvious improvement with the trees and other foliage and you're hardly going to notice the detail when running along, looking down your gun sights or flying past in your Cheetah. If Rockstar thought the trees and foliage needed a level of detail like "Lumberjack Simulator 3" then they would have done it but personally I'm more than happy with the marked improvements over IV we're seeing so far. How often are you going to be staring at them this closely?

remember shooting a basketball in san andreas?? i don't care if i have to kick around a hacky sack in some QTE based activity for a while, or try to dance for a few minutes... tennis ain't so bad (if it's even an activity like massacre said), but you can bet your ass i will play whatever activity they give us... as for friends, it's already been said... it's optional... they just add to the activity, makes it feel like you're hanging out with the people you get to know, or already know... sure roman seemed to call all the time, but every now and then you gotta pick him up if you're not doing anything... the taxi service made that super easy to handle... didn't TBOGT turn the phone calls off, and instead giving you the option to call them??

What we've seen in the screens so far is just a tiny selection of what's in store.

In the new screens it's pretty much confirmed tennis will be a playable activity. GTA IV we had bowling and shit, we could do all sorts of friend activities. I got to ask, does anyone actually care about that sort of thing? I thought the whole friendship thing in IV was really really boring - except getting drunk, that was fun. I hope I am not the only one that thinks Rockstar shoudnt waste their time making these sort of activities and instead concentrate on fun things like burglary, drug dealing, raiding warehouses, hijacking trucks full of stuff you can sell on the black market, arms dealing/smuggling, gang wars.. etc. Betting on horses and card games were great in SA, alot more fun than bowling with Roman. The truth is, Im not that excited about GTA V if its going in the same direction as IV. Instead of "hey cousin, lets go bowling" every 10mins, it will be "hey Ned Luke, lets play tennis".

I agree with you DiO. I tried really hard to enjoy MP3 multiplayer, but it just felt like i was playing Call of Duty with it's stupid level up and get better guns system... That doesn't make you any better at the game. Levels should represent skill, not how many hours you've clocked in the game... I hope to god this does not happen in GTA V. I don't mind being rewarded with clothes and things that make your character look unique, but guns... That's just not right. Back on topic though - CS is that kind of game, either you enjoy it's game style, or you don't. Some feel it's dated, because of COD. Fair enough you're used to polished gameplay which has cost milions of pounds to develop. CS is simplicity at it's best imo...

No clue what that structure might be, but I really think the biplane screenshot is the best one yet. The water and the lighting/shadows are just beautiful. Plus that area at the top-left looks like it stretches on forever and gives us a good sense of the sheer scale of this game. If ever you want to make a case for video games as art, just point to this image.

I was the last one to post how the hell should I know he's not talking to me when he uses profanity rather than quote the person he responds to? also, treefitty n me go down the same picture analysis lane, just that he's online more often. And no, he's not looking way too much into it from my point of view. I applaud his efforts to put down locations and give us an idea of the map right now already, something not possible without looking deep into the pics. Also, R* is known for those little details so there's always more to see than just dat awesum CJ man bastn dem AKs n shit... Oh well... enough off topic I guess

B O _ D G/C E? It could be some kind of play on of Dodge. It's very difficult to get it readable though. I'll keep playing and see what I get.

The laser sight is coming from the helicopter in both shots. The idea is you know when you're being aimed at, and where it's coming from. Whether we will have laser sights on player weapons remains to be seen but I'd say it's pretty likely - at least in multiplayer anyway, when those huge deathmatch games can get pretty confusing if you're being shot from all directions.

Took the pictures and cut out all people and adjusted the levels to better see them (didn't include the plane one as it was too hard to see the face due to distance and the fact it was partially covered by the windshield at that angle).

I'm also getting used to the fact we're probably going to play as multiple characters, as suggested earlier in the year...

One of the first things I'll do after exploring the city and doing a couple of missions is beat up some peds with melee, then steal a dirtbike and just drive out into the wilderness at full speed. One thing I'd like to do is go down a mountain with a dirtbike or mountain bike.

I was absolutely heartbroken when there was no busker-centric DLC. Obviously you're not a golfer.

i liked darts, and i am an avid golfer so i definitely played that... but there was also turf wars and drug dealing... there's plenty of stuff to add to the fun, so why would you be upset that they added tennis?? get a grip folks, you can't always get what you want... at least they're trying to immerse you in the world of los santos... i'll gladly play some tennis at the local country club if that's what ned luke wants to do...

I looked at the house(s) a little more: They are VERY similar but I see a couple issues: Issue 1 is the width of the wall. In the trailer pic (top) the white wall section is a couple feet wide. In the screenshot (bottom) that section of wall is much bigger. Issue 2 is the smaller wall section. In the trailer pic it ends (notice the shadow) and might continue with glass. In the screenshot the wall continues on for a large distance. Yes that part of the wall is on an angle but the column (highlighted with blue) that's a few feet away is about halfway in the trailer and much closer to the cliff side in the screenshot. Issue 3 I'll just add that the roof over the deck in the trailer appears flat (note the shadow has no angled piece) and the screenshot looks like a pitched roof. I'm not 100% on this one since the distance/pixelation could be affecting it. On the plus side both have a large tree towards the right and the screenshot looks to have some vines/whatever hanging over the front-right corner of the deck roof just like the trailer (again note the shadow). On a related note I found a building with a sunken tennis court similar to the one in the screenshot in Pacific Palisades, CA: Similar layout and architecture but there are many like it.

Id rather have robbery minigames than tennis, i think. Now, if you could play tennis to build up skill, then use that skill along with a tennis racket and grenade... Well... Well that might be a differnent story

Do you think we'll ever revisit these threads when the game is out to see who was right and who was wrong?

I can think of about 3 reasons.. 1. Some ppl enjoyed the phone feature. 2. Offers some really interesting stories and funny dialogue.. especially from Packie. Really added some depth. 3. What's the point of making friends if you can't do shit with'em when the story is over? That seems abit dull to me. Like Marney and some of the other guys said. R* is going in a realistic direction and the little things like the friend feature makes it more realistic.. and above all that... You can TURN YOUR PHONE OFF.

I like how people are assuming you can play tennis. Peds do plenty of things you can't do; sitting on a bench, playing a saxophone, carrying an umbrella, other shit I don't remember. Don't be so quick to think we get a boring new minigame just because it's in a screenshot. R* is likely just showing off new ped interactions.

actually a pretty good find, there's quite a lot of similarities between the 2 houses imho. 1 the white wall at the dj pult 2 the pillar supporting what looks like a pergola above the balkony (judging from the shadows in the trailer) 3 the windows going around the corner 4 the greyish tiles on the wall, when you look closely on the screenshot you can see that the corresponding area is a little greyish in the screenshot, not as whiteish as the other parts of the house 5 if you look through the windows mentioned in 3, you can see another, setback window which seems to be part of that house, similar setup in the screenshot EDIT: not to mention the cliff directly below the house

"A bold new direction in open-world freedom" could well imply the player will have a choice in whether or not to take part in these leisure activities. Don't complain that R* have included a particular activity you don't like, be greatful it's there just in case you ever fancy trying it.

I really don't know why people moan about that when you can just turn your phone off? my point is - why didnt rockstar use the time and effort they took in making that feature, to make something more exciting like getting calls like "hey man, lets go raid a gang hangout" or something.

both are equal because by now natural selection would have chosen only one of them to survive as they are competing in the same environment but both of them survived so they are both fit anmd good. or maybe it needs more time for one of them to die out. x
