I was just thinking. If the game is set only in Los Santos, which is pretty much confirmed now. Will it be bigger than San Andreas in terms of actual map size? I realize San Andreas covered three cities and surrounding countryside, but everything was shrunk down and the cities were far smaller than any real city. GTA V clearly looks much richer in detail and bigger looking from what we have seen of it so far. But will it actually be bigger than San Andreas, or ever Red Dead?, since Rockstar have mentioned it is the largest and most ambitious game yet in their latest statement. Might as well start discussing it, but don't moan that the game is going to suck because it's not going to be San Andreas, that's not the point of this thread. Personally I hope it is bigger. And i hope to see loads of small country towns sprawled out over the countrysides, full of interesting characters to do side missions for and what not. /edit Here is some of the hard work put in by members on this forum: 'Fitty's Map (Final): DuPz' map (Final): Banana Pudding's map: Los Santos Blueprints: Image from an achievement/trophy icon: Brady Games Map:

I've been trying to think about this for ages. Since they released their post trailer #1 statement in fact. When you combine all the images, footage and information we've seen so far it's obvious there is no clear protagonist. Then I read something that somebody wrote which I also thought about early on after watching trailer 1. I put it to one side of my mind because I didn't think it was plausable. Anyway, the trailer music, the possibility of multiple characters, the viewfinder with retro looking postcard style pics... and the general feeling i get from all this information. Could GTA V be set in multiple era's? Maybe it's a little out there, but it's just a thought triggered by something almost identical I read on another forum. If more than one person has a similar though, I think it's worth sharing...

Agree, I like the challenge of something more realistic. I personally never had much of a problem with the bike physics in IV, helicopter physics could do with a tweek tho.

I agree, the one thing i do miss from gta-san andreas is the panic i got when i flipped my car over with during an escort mission only to have the car explode, my mission fail, and me being on the opposite side of the map... Also, no need to flame someone just because they are a verified expert, COSenna... I dont get mad at my doctor when he says i need a prostate exam, for example.

Hmm, needed to aquire a lot of money so i can color my hair blue, seems uninteresting to me. That's because you lack imagination, Steve,

Dude. You can ask any member here, search for the pics.. Im a professional stunt driver... Educate yourself, boy.

The helicopter physics weren't to realistic, if you touch a helicopter with anything you're fucked already. In IV you could smash into plenty of shit before breaking the blades or tail.

He's asking for opinions, not that we should already know what it looks like and he wants too know. Thought that was obvious. But it'll probably look like the rest.

I thought i'd make light of this semi disastrous event, and found a couple of mods to make GTA IV fun whilst i wait for m0ar GTAV information/trailers! Powercut mod: Flood mod: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqYoLJHomOY And just use the weather cheat and you end up with this: xD fun times!

if when im playing a mission there is some annoying asshole i have to protect the whole time, i swear i might not even get the game.

Of course but that's the foreground. With everything from real life squashed together things are much more close in LS than LA which is why Koreatown is right down the road from Venice in GTA V.

I would speculate that Cyantist is on the right track here. Releasing a GTA trailer is not a simple matter of uploading it to a server and making it available to the world. As soon as it hits, the site will be under incredible load trying to handle the worldwide demand. If proper load balancing isn't in place, our insatiable appetites alone will bring the site to its knees. I'm guessing the real holdup isn't getting power to Rockstar HQ; there's likely a datacenter somewhere in NYC or along the eastern seaboard recovering from the storm, and that datacenter that is a key cog in the marketing machine.

I don't think the trailer was in danger of being wiped at all. R* HQ is in charge of marketing so that's where most of the stuff we see comes from. Even if the trailer was done (I'll bet plenty of money they work on it until the release just like thier games) the computer/server it's stored on may not have been accessible due to the blackout. On top of that the people whose job it is to update the site and social media outlets may not have been able to do so with the blackout either. I know a lot of them live in the NYC area for obvious reasons so their own homes may have been without power too.

It'd be cool but I doubt it maybe in the options menu you can change the display style of the HUD

If its not broke, don't fix it. I like the health bar style rapped around the mini map. but San Andreas's health bar wasn't bad either.

Good find Fitty. that certainly looks like a train track. And the little overpass in the corner that you found gives it away.

Gta III was gangs. Gta 4 was mafia. What will gta V be? The evidence points to crazy cults, as somewhat mentioned earlier. Kiflom obviously plays a role in the story, it would open up so much oppurtunity for different characters and crazy people. I think a cult is way better then mafia or gang, it can go into a lot darker area then hoodrats and Italian mobsters and we can deal with some fucked up in the head serial killer white men who god tells to kill people or something. Although gangs should be somewhere in the game.

Might have located some things in the Vespucci Canal pic: 5900 Wilshire on the left and possibly the La Brea Tar pits or a part of the Museum of Art in the middle. That one thing definitely looks like a sculpture of sorts.

yeah mate i have played san andreas i know what was in it. so no need for the attitude. can no one have a conversation on this site without turning it into ripping someone because they don't like their ideas etc. so your totally original ideas is to bring all the shit back from san andreas. not of all of san andreas features were good!

I think they just added a lot of new shit to the game in terms of immersion like some have said. And overall, "bold new direction" was just a good marketing soundbite that was vague enough to keep us all guessing.

i have looked back at the first trailer and stopped it at :34, thats where "pleasure pier" can be seen in far ground. okay so it seems it could be "Del Perro pier" now only because i can see part of the roller coaster, the only thing i have a hard time seeing is the farris wheel (trees are in the way of where it would be) but i believe i can see an outline of the farris wheel? the coaster goes in the same sweeping motion at the end.

GTA SA had infinite water (and air space) stretch out in every direction. GTA V will probably have the same. I hope the water is only to the west and other directions have infinite dirt space.

Why compare it go GTA IV when RDR is a lot newer and is also an open world game made by the same engine?

Same guy standing on the mansion balcony as in the trailer? Been thinking that anyway, or maybe the same mansion anyway

Ah well man. I just hunted down all the best quality images from the viewfinders, and enhanced them best i could. They look far sharper than the ones on the front end of the website anyway...

The businesses should only be fronts for your criminal enterprises. And there should be missions associated with these enterprises. For intsance Drug labs and distribution networks should have missions involving taking out rival Drug Labs, and Drug Dealers/Lords. Protection Rackets should involve you intimidating business owners ( kind of like the Godfather games ) to create rackets, and wasting any rival gangs/criminals that hassle the businesses under your protection. Maybe Drug Networks could be upgraded to incorporate importation of large amounts of Grade A drugs ( Heroin from Asian sources and Cocaine from South American countires ) with bigger profits on the initial investment. You should also be able to buy banks to launder/clean your money, and there should also be both a stock and property market in the game to invest your ill-gotten gains in. Then reinvest the rent and shares back into your enterprises, hiring more soldiers into your private army, bribing law enforcement/politicians and streamlining everything to make them even more efficient at making money.

in VCS you could buy/takeover 30 locations on the map where you can build one of six different business types in one of three forms. basically any land you own, you can put whatever business you want there and it will generate money. you will also be given several sidemissions, plus your businesses will occasionally come under attack by gangs. i would like to see something like this in GTA V but greatly expanded.
