15 pointsAnother update on the map -I spent some time sculpting detail into the mountains, and added a couple of bridges up in Blaine county. Hopefully doing the scale of the map justice, as I've still seen many people say the map looks small, when it's clearly massive. And If anyone is having trouble viewing the 3D model in their browser, here's a back up:

4 pointsI was thinking about something similar earlier. I have completely lost interest in almost all new games over the last few years because they don't leave anything to the imagination or allow you to be adventurous. As that excerpt says, the big moments of most games are condensed into a quicktime event you have no ability to change, other than to fail because you weren't paying attention (yawning) and didn't push A quickly enough. It seems to be that when a large game developer comes up with an idea for their next game, they have a series of events they want to squeeze in to take full advantage of the hardware and make it look good for trailers/eye candy in the game, as they know that will sell games and gamers will think they want to see it on their TV. Most are sold on it when it is no more involving than a movie with decent CGI. The problem is that, as a result of this, all ability to go about doing things your own way is taken out of the equation. The simplest way of showing this is looking at level maps from games 10-15 years ago and comparing them to now. Levels are much more linear and you may only have two (maximum of three) paths to mission success. If you stray from the path you are caught up by an invisible wall or some other false barrier which has been programmed in to keep you on the path the developer intended you to follow. Even some open world games manage to fall into this trap e.g. most RPGs will stop you beginning certain quests unless you've reached a certain level in a specific skill. While this is all part of being an RPG, it's a false barrier designed to stop you completing a mission unless you would be capable of completing it a certain way e.g. using magic rather than brute force. The difference with GTA is that it is a truly open world experience. If you need to get from A to B there is nothing to stop you driving across the map to get a helicopter and arriving at your destination with the military chasing after you (well, some missions will prevent that but only where it wouldn't make sense for you to continue). At the same time GTA allows you to fully experience an alternative world not entirely dissimilar to real life but give you the ability to do as you please. This is why I still find GTA appealing as it allows you to use your imagination and explore the world. The only thing GTA is missing is consequences for your actions - GTA IV gave you some decisions to make but none of them really affected the game in a massive way, other than determine whether you get a second safe house in Algonquin or not, or whether you take Roman or Kate bowling once a week after you've completed the game. It's why the internet goes crazy whenever Rockstar releases a single screenshot for the next GTA game - because it's the only remaining game of it's kind, done correctly.

2 pointsIt was a sad excuse for game journalism, but fuck it. I was mildly entertained for ten minutes. And I do appreciate how they are continuously undermining the next generation of consoles. It makes the crotchety old miser in me smile deviously.

2 pointsWhat happened to the article on how R* made a next gen game on current gen hardware? That was supposed to be this article. I don't know what this shit is... it is briefly mentioned at the end, they also said that they'd go into more detail in the coming days ... whatever... this article is nothing more than an article i read months ago on the same subject of incorporating past games into GTAV...
-
2 pointsman, the articles are getting worse by the day... the first article is still hands down the best...

2 pointsSwag is promotional merchandise given out or sold by the company endorsing a product or event. The hat in the Collector's Edition of GTA V is swag. Black people simply can't spell 'charisma' correctly, thus, the misuse of the word 'swag.'

2 pointsMap update. - Added more of the roads, thinned highways, due to scale deception. Changed train track colour so you can see the difference between rail & road.Tweaked the terrain some more. Possible Mountain detail sculpt coming in next update if i have time before GTA V release. Click image for 3D view:

2 pointsThey're coming out October 1... if they haven't come out already.

1 pointI know some people are happy happy happy with the music, but so far, I think the rock section is boring, lame, etc.. No Van Halen? WTF?
-
1 pointOnly Next-Gen games I've really been impressed with are Dead Rising 3, primarily for the expanded open world aspects (always wanted an open world zombie game) and the other one is Watch Dogs just because of the techy, computer related abilities although I fear it may turn out feeling kinda gimmicky and forced upon. And Fallout 4, never forget Fallout 4 .

1 pointThen it was a very misleading title.I though that R* was going to talk about how they added so many activities and how they made the map so big. And they did. They said they wanted to make the game as good as it could possibly be. So obviously that includes them wanting to make a very large map filled with lots of fun things to do.

1 pointI like how people are complaining just because they were expecting something amazing. Personally I thought it was a good read, and it made me want the game even more, so I'd say it did it's job. And if you didn't like it, the game is still coming out in just 12 days, so how upset can you really be right now?

1 pointSome new info from the previews yesterday ~ http://www.gamepur.c...s-and-more.html [Excerpt] ~ - "Sniper Rifles can be upgraded with a Thermo Scope which can be activated on the run". Coupled with ~ - "Night time is more realistic and is a big improvement from IVs "darkness". At a certain part of Blaine County the only real source of light were Trevor's vehicle headlamps". [End Quote] Which means that Night time will be almost Pitch-Black in some areas of the map. And if you join this together with a gun that has an Infrared Scope and a Suppressor Attachment, you could totally own any enemies in the darkness ( especially with a high Stealth Skill ). Hopefully there are Night Vision goggles as well, so you can use weapons other than the sniper rifle in the dark. Pair that with a suppressor on your Pistol or SMG and you could easily hunt down enemy NPC's. You could also kick other Player's asses in GTA Online using some smart tactics at night as well...............................as long as they don't have a flashlight attachment on their weapon...

1 pointI can live with that. Never like the cockpit view on GTA. Only like it for racing games. Too much going on in GTA. falling planes and such.

1 pointMob and Mafia are the same thing bro, but yeah I could see that happening too. Maybe Franklin doesn't want to be in Families anymore but his past catches up with him so hence he gets back in it. "One of the developers" = Lazlow
-
1 pointI got a feeling whatever mob or mafia that micheal screwed over with his FIB deal is gonna find him and become the major competing gang midway through the story. Rockstar seems to have a trending theme in most their games of the character's past catching up with them

1 pointHoly shit Micheal's badassness went to 11 with that beard, Trevor is still leading with 17.
-
1 pointWow. The night shot behind the Vinewood sign looking down onto the city is awesome Edit: Finished reading the article just now, and even though it did spoil a few things, I don't care. This game looks to be the best GTA ever and put San Andreas to shame.
-
1 pointThe stubble is good for Michael, can't wait for this game. But the ign article does have some early game spoilers in regards to missions.

1 pointI really hope they keep both the old and new models for all of the vehicles, specifically the Sentinal. If they don't, I won't be able to recreate this Most Wanted magic...
-
1 pointDid an all-nighter to get through the King of Thorns... Never thought I would say this about a book but the third one is a release day purchase for me... Onto my next iGTAV recommended author now, The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood - thanks gtagrl

1 pointI'd imagine with the return of The Lost there'll be a mission involving Trevor chasing them down the motorway freeway on a Freeway while blasting at them freely in a free way.

1 pointhonky, Sagat ain't black. He's Thai. The correct term is "Taki would whoop his yellow anus passageway where an ass should be". Not that she would, though. She's a girl.

1 pointAs the title suggests. But I can see how this could be a major issue, considering it would have to use up at least one of the buttons (given you didn't want to have the gear up and gear down buttons) But I do believe it'd be a fun little addition for a sense of realism. Like having an option in the controls to have the clutch replace the handbrake or whatever, Also could be something to add to street racing in the drag sense.
