Sacrifice
Sword against shield,
War drums, like thunder.
Dead, barren earth,
World torn asunder.
Mangled forms,
Bones snapped and wrenched.
Smoke in the air,
Stink of burnt flesh.
Trebuchets fire,
Boulders streak through the sky.
Foes number in thousands,
Every one of them must die.
Axe howls through the air,
Iron buried in throat.
Wretched head leaves body,
No time to gloat.
Swarmed by foes,
Claws, horns, and teeth.
Axe does not rest,
Nor do enemies cease.
Shield halts flame,
But eye catches ember,
Half-blind, fight on,
Hack, slash, dismember.
Death stands before us,
But we all took this oath.
We can live, or do what's right,
It cannot be both.
Our homes have been razed,
And our farmland has burned.
The hell that Hell faces,
Hell has assuredly earned.
This blight cannot spread,
It ends now, ends here.
The rest of the world, unlike us,
Will not lose all it holds dear.
To fight, to die, is why the Order was born.
Our sacrifice stops the oncoming storm.

I'm not much of a poet. It just kind of came out.
