Does this prove that the game is definitely a prequel, given what happened in RDR?

Maybe. But they all look the same build. I don't see Bill either. And, this has to be Zancudo over a century earlier... Also, I may just make this my wallpaper.

I love the animal interactions we saw in the trailer. Really looks more realistic with predators going after prey and not just us.

Screencaps for anyone that cares. Breakdown of what I noticed: A lone rider greets the sunrise in a hilly area. Draw distance is already looking good. Elk are shown in a lush frontier. Sheep on a farm with rats scurrying around in the foreground. A fox hunts down a squirrel in the forest as sunlight streams through the trees. Pelicans glide around a small, winding river valley. A campfire lights up the trees under a starry night sky. A rancher brings home a deer carcass on horseback as robins look on from a fence. Two men enjoy a canoe ride as we pass along the shore. Notice something hanging in the tree? Buffalo walk along the railroad as a train attempts to get by. Two well-to-do men (who look similar to Trevor and Michael btw) in a carriage pass in front of common folk at a general store. The dog appears to watch the carriage roll by. A cowboy saddles up as cattle pass the barn. Vultures take in a coyote carcass as a dog barks next to them. People go about their business as a burned-out building smokes in the background. A horseback rider strolls over to a field of burning oil derricks. Presumably the same person - possibly our protagonist - looks around at the flames. A posse takes off into the fields looking ready for a fight ahead.

Ok lets do this. Let the speculation start rolling. Was this map real or fake? Can we pinpoint locations on it? I'll start!

Trailer drops tomorrow. Let's have a quick retrospective of the first RDR trailer.

So it's finally been announced.... And it's a RDR2, rather than a Red Dead 3. Title: Red Dead Redemption 2 Release Window: Fall 2017 Trailer #1: October 20th 2016 "Red Dead Redemption 2 will release worldwide in Fall 2017 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One systems. An epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland, the game's vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience. Talk bout the damn game! Here's my first bit of speculation. Looking at the first teaser, we see there is gang of seven, probably referring to The Magnificent Seven. It's also fair to say, it's probably Dutch's gang which we learn about in the original RDR. So looking at the silhouettes we can see some of them stand out. Here's who i think they are. (I changed my mind, i also think the left is Marston after a second look). Left, looks like Marston. Not much younger, so this may not be that far in the past. The guy just left of the middle looks distinctively like Dutch van der Linde. I could be wrong but the nose, moustache and chin look pretty accurate. Dutch Linde was one of the main antagonists in RDR, this may show us some kind of betrayal between him and Marston. Right of the middle is without a doubt William "Bill" Williamson, who is also an enemy of Marston in RDR. More room for betrayal in RDR2. Anyone else looking at these guys and think they look like an important person. Wanted, dead or alive? And finally, we have a trailer on Thursday, so hopefully we'll get loads of juicey details to scrub through in the footage.

We don't actually know that, for sure. The wide array of environments in the trailer actually make the map seem a lot more credible.

Ok, rock (mesa) behind the tree at 0:10 looks like the same rock at 0:57. (smaller rock is to the right which looks similar too.) Sun is setting or rising so it's either looking east or west. The mountain profile has a distinctive flat section at 0:32 (centre right above the mule) and 0:57 (far right, to the right of ze pointy butte) the peaks either side of the flat section don't quite match but different viewpoints, angles, perspective etc. could account for that. Same mountain profile at 0:36 above the tree, seems to closely match with that of 0:57.

i was impressed with that first trailer tbh... i love the western genre and was super stoked to see someone like R* tackling it... @Brianthe only part that doesn't make sense tho is there's also dutch and bill in the photo... those guys were dead before jack took up arms...

Now now ladies; play nice. So we ended up doing some playlists after all. And some co-op missions and business stuff. I didn't take much but better than nothing I think most of us played that mission where it just ends with a 5 minute wait. I guess the idea is other players are to come fuck you up. But we were bored so this happened as per usual With Kuz, gtagrl and R2 R2 seemed pretty excited As did Kuz. The terrifying view from inside the SUV. Good thing there were so small children on board. You all can guess how it ended So you can change the colour of the Dune in races now. Kuz got stopped as I take the jump Near the end of the night, we helped Fanboy deliver some weed. Here he is, high as fuck ( in the game, and real life ) with the dirty hippy next to him. Truth was even there ( still wearing the same thing since heists first came out ) R2 with the camera turned...it kinda looks like he is facing the right way up? ...No Gtagrl That is all. Halloween next week. I highly doubt we will have a shortage of people for that one. I thought perhaps the brand expo thing was too convoluted but we talked about it a bit and I imagine most would have a grotti or a pegassi of some sort. A banshee meet would also be cool as they have the banshee jacket. Fanboy seemed pretty excited for that theme. I'm bumping crew blue.
