I've never seen that? But if I do I'll definitely be whinging to my server host again Take it back, just seen it now... >_<. -
TBH I wasn't expecting a new design, just new features, but it is a major upgrade so I suppose they had to redevelop the theme a bit too. It's a lot smoother and quicker. Unless you're working on a prehistoric PC like Demon...

Re-coded one of my modifications to the forums which displays any photo a member has uploaded before it'll display the boring generic default picture. So if you uploaded a facebook photo, twitter photo or manual avatar/photo, it'll show one of them. If you're still seeing the boring silhouette image, you need to upload a new avatar.

He probably just needs to CTRL+F5 on the page and re-download the javascript. Then it should work for him.
-
Yeah I had that issue too. I'll look into it Massacre, go to the forum index and press CTRL+F5 (clear your cache). Then try the status update at the top right again. That fixed it for me.
-
Yeah looks a bit bigger than usual. Probably just take awhile to get used to.
-
Much better. More high-tech and quicker

All done. Some of you might need to re-do your avatars or photos, but other than that everything appears to be working fine.

There's an update out for the forums which I will be installing tonight. This means there might be an hour or so of downtime. Included in the update are a few bug fixes and a few tools for mods and admins to make running the forums easier. Apparently there are also upgrades to the reputation system and the status updates. Not 100% sure what they are but we'll see. I have a feeling that all comments that currently exist on status updates will be lost because the ability to comment on status updates was added through a forum modification. This update provides that feature from the basic forum so they'll probably work in a slightly different way. Anyway just thought I'd keep everyone updated. Let me know if there's any problems.

Saw Iron Maiden with Airbourne supporting them on Saturday in Newcastle on their Final Frontier tour. They were AWESOME, as always! All photos here:

I got bored coming up with new names just for Marney. He can stay at Forum Nazi forever for all I care. I made up about 50 different ranks and because of you lot, he flew past all of them before anyone had a chance to read them... -
That looks awesome to me. Only thing is the trees in the middle make it look like there's two images next to each other. Doesn't look like it blends well, plus with the placement of the text it just makes it look like 2 seperate images. Perhaps need to reposition the text, but I really like it. Did you save it as a PSD? And also is it possible to extend the bottom of the banner by another 50 pixels or so to incorporate the navigation links? Or did you crop everything to size? Only thing that really needs fixing is the trees in the middle really. If you can get rid of them and stick something else there with the orange -> blue gradient then I think we're onto a winner. Good work.

Added a "Latest Updates" section at the top of the home page.

Yeah something like that could work. Maybe not overdoing it though but it's a good idea. Where did you get the graphics from?
-
Modified version of the current banner. Needs a bit of work, particularly to make it show the header navigation, but it's an idea.
-
I think it needs to have blue so it fits with the rest of the site colour scheme, but save it as a PSD with layers and I can always tweak it if needs be. The only thing I'd say about the imagery you used was it seems more like NYC than LA. Maybe get something of the golden gate bridge etc.
-
Not a big fan of the bevels and the perfectly rounded shape. Looks too smooth and plain. In a way I also agree with Demon that the blue looks a bit offputting, but at the same time it needs to be blue to match the site. Obviously having something 'sticking out' of it in full colour, like the San Andreas banner would be ideal but we don't have much we can use for that. Not a big fan of the font either. Along the right lines though. The general feeling is that GTA 5 is gonna be set in LA/San Andreas again, so maybe use some screenshots from SA (landscape) or some real photos of LA which have been modified to look like a game. We're gonna have to change it eventually anyway but for now we just need something that goes with the template better than the current one. I think if there was a character we could use on the left side of the banner, who's width is just the same size as the left navigation bar (so he's kind of standing on it, or popping out the top of it) a bit like the http://www.gta4.tv banner then that would look pretty cool.
-
It's much harder to use graphical designs than it is to keep them simple. Full graphic websites usually are a fixed size and don't let you scroll down. That's gonna cause problems with different screen resolutions too. People on 1024x768 wont even see the moon or anything.

Haha looks decent. Could do with a bit more work. The images don't really appear to blend together very well. Also I prefer going for different fonts on the banner (for the links anyway). And pricedown is decent but it looks a bit plain. Good start though and that's something similar to what I'm looking for. I knocked this up in 15 mins or so using the fake screens "we" made on the site. Not too happy with it, but it's an idea; I've changed the gradient on the left nav from red to blue (gta-sanandreas.com nostalgia anyone?). I NEED a good banner. Ideally with some blended screenshots and a blue tint over the top. Here's the San Andreas one for some inspiration. The banner doesn't have to be perfectly square, it can be shaped to something.
