OK. A bus is the type of connector. In your case its IDE. IDE is old and hard drives produced using it cost a little more since mass production isn't as big, hence the price of new ones. A driver allows you to use certain hardware in windows. On a laptop for example after just installing XP your wireless wont work without the wireless driver. You NEED the XP CD. and aslong as the hard drive is 2.5 inch and IDE it should be just fine. And yes, its tells me the hard drive has crapped out.

You just need to reinstall windows. You'll obviously have to get the drivers off the website but it aint that difficult. Just make sure you have another way to access the internet when you've replaced it because XP (I presume you'll use that) generally doesn't have internet working out the box, you have to install drivers. But you're posting without your computer so you obviously have a way to access the net. The bus on the drive makes it difficult to get a cheap one so you might well be better off buying a used one.

Try this instead. Any 2.5 inch IDE hard drive will do so don't limit yourself to buying old stock. Plenty of storage and it's new so theres warranty. I generally never buy used hard drives unless theres no other option (i.e. some obscure no longer manufactured form factor)

Tonight, atleast the main card should be a night of finishes. Good lineup of people skilled in sub's and striking. For replacing it? See where the Windows XP sticker is? The hard drive is underneath that bit of plastic. Locate the screws securing it and then you'll have access to the hard drive bay. You should see something like this Generally these arent screwed in and instead a tab hangs off the top, grab that and pull it away from the connector then remove it from the computer. Four screws on the side hold the hard drive in place, remove those and replace the hard drive in the caddy. Then do this entire guide in reverse. And next time don't bother with consumer class HP. They contain good components but because of the price generally have shitty build quality, hence why it crapped out after you whacked it.

Gonna get round to reinstalling fallout soon. Been having too much fun with runescape and Minecraft, seriously I can't even find some of the shit I've built, and TNT is awesome for building insta-dungeons.

You want to get files off it? Make a Ubuntu live usb. Get the Ubuntu ISO from here- http://www.ubuntu.com/ Get unetbootin from here - http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/ Make a USB flash drive a ubuntu live usb (it's reversable afterwards dont worry) with unetbootin. Its easy to do, then plug the USB into your laptop and on bootup when the OEM logo shows look for "Select device to boot from" or s/t like that. Press the button it says and select "Boot from USB". When it does that, select "Run Live CD" after it has loaded. Then use the file browser to try reclaim your porn. If it aint there that hard drive is dead pretty much and your files, short of being sent off for hundreds of dollar costing recovery are gone. A new hard drive is cheap though.

True but thats also stereotyping- i used to think people who said they use pot for medical reasons were just liars trying to get a legal high, that is until i got in a car accident and started using medical reasons. 1st thing the docters did was try to shove pills down my throat. Almost any pill makes me violently sick. even an asprin. So pot is the only alternative with positive side effects. I also have gluacoma and it lowers the presssure. So from my experiences and others who are "legal" pot really is a "painkiller" because it stops the pain and pressure like nothing else can for me. It definately has some kind of pain alleviation or something. I know people that cant function because of the pain in there knees. They wake up, smoke and then go about there day. They can't work but life is far more manageable.

Well Sal D'Amato and Dave Hagen were two of the judges. You might know them from the Jackson/Machida and UFC 130/1 robberies respectively.
