The record for completing the first game was about nine minutes, how many people can realistically complete it in that time is another matter... six hours is good.

Protagonist Revisited
Edgecrusher replied to TwoFacedTanner's topic in GTA 5 Pre-Release Discussion (Closed)
Johnny Klebitz, definately the coolest character out of the three. It would be good to see him start up a new MC or even go back in time and show him starting off as a hang around and rising through the ranks in The Lost. -
I like it, but it seems too modern for steampunk. Think industrial revolution and, as Massacre said, don't be afraid to use wood.

Got my new laptop today. I decided to go for a Toshiba Satellite C660 instead of the Acer as it was on offer at £349.99 (normal price £499.99) Intel Core i3 380m @ 2.53Ghz 2GB DDR3 (soon upgrading to 8GB) 320GB HDD Intel HD Graphics (Integrated) up to 761MB at the moment but I will probably buy a new graphics card somewhere down the line. *Edit* Scratch that, I don't really care though, it is ample for my needs. All in all I'm quite happy with it (especially for the price tag) it is quite nippy and can run YouTube vids in 1080p etcetera without slowing down. I haven't tried any games in it yet.

I'm getting an Acer Aspire laptop soon. It's nothing special, but it's heaps better than the Dell I've got at the minute. Current specs: Intel Pentium M 1.2 GHz DDR SDRAM 640MB 40GB HDD Intel Extreme Graphics 2 64MB I'm running PCLinuxOS at the minute because it really struggles with Windows. Yes, it really is that good... New specs: Intel Core i3-370M 2.4Ghz - 3MB L3 Cache 4GB DDR3 500GB HDD Don't know about the graphics card, but I'm guessing it will be better than the one I've got. Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit.

<_< When you click on to a website, your computer pings that website with small packets of data and the website server then sends the data back which basically tells your computer that it can access the site. A ping test measures how long this process takes so basically the lower the number, the better.
-
Basically how long it takes my computer to send packets to speedtest's server. I'm getting fibre optic as soon as my local exchange is upgraded which might even happen this century... but probably not.
-
Yeah I already knew about speedtest, just didn't think it was worth posting because it varies greatly from day to day, but meh.
-
Yeah, it would seem this site is not very reliable.
-
Forgive me if this has already been posted but... PS3 exclusive content: *Edit* ^Meh^

Must've been during one of my absences, I don't remember you but WB anyway.

Fair enough, although given the chance I think you would change your mind. If you have an unexpected urge to play a war shooter, Battlefield 3 would be my recommendation, MW2 is probably the worst example of a war game going.
-
Get Battlefield 3 later this year. Trust me...

What are you looking for in GTA5?
Edgecrusher replied to Qdeathstar's topic in GTA 5 Pre-Release Discussion (Closed)
Definately, I was a little disappointed that the numbers on to let signs in GTAIV didn't work. Also, I think it would be cool if there were more working telephone numbers in the next game in general. -
Same. It doesn't really appeal to me anyway, Juiced had a similar option and I didn't like it then, I would much rather just race myself. If there's trophies attached to that mode I will probably play it eventually, but I expect it will bore me to tears.

Because if they removed the possibilty to create your own character and created the character for you, it would probably have a bit of substance to it. Just my opinion. I don't take it seriously, but I don't find it particularly entertaining either. Being a GTA clone is not the reason I don't like Saint's Row, if that were the case I wouldn't have bought the second one in the first place. I didn't like it because, as it's own game, I thought it was crap. Again, my opinion. This just simply isn't true, of course they want to steal away as many GTA fans as they can, it's how they make money. And aside from any fuzzy notions of games developers having this kind of altruistic intention towards gamers, they still work for a publisher and publishers want to make money. Just because they can't compete with GTA, doesn't mean that they don't want to. Money is the bottom line in the games industry as it is in every industry. Rockstar do pay attention to what people post on forums, but are selective about what actually makes it into the game this to me seems a far better formula than adding every feature under the sun while ignoring the other aspects of the game. I didn't find it very fun, yet again this is my personal opinion. If you enjoyed the game, that's brilliant, but I can't help feeling that I got duped. I don't expect anyone to change their opinions to suit mine though, if everyone had the same opinions as me, the world would be a very boring place.

^This. It's like they go through every GTA "want" list on the internet and add every stupid little feature you can think of but forget about characterisation, realism, etcetera. This is one game that IMO would be better off without the create a character feature. The humour is nowhere near as subtle and thoughtout as GTA, and despite the excess of features, it's nowhere near as fun to play. I finished SR2 within a week of it coming out and never picked it up again.

The image itself is unremarkable, but I had no access to internet until a little while before I joined GTA-SanAndreas.com. After playing Vice City, I had no idea that they were creating another GTA game until I happened upon this screenshot, it was magical. I don't think I will ever be as excited about a game as I was about San Andreas.

Been a long time, welcome back.

Where's Terrence?

On a side note, just got SA again with a secondhand PS2 I bought for the sake of watching DVDs in my bedroom.

Website Problems/Issues/Requests

Works for me. -
Well... that's essentially what it is, although I think spam is a bit too strong a word for it. It's not as if it is a thread for advertising websites or whatever, and it could be useful to have a list of peoples usernames for organised games etcetera, but meh. As for general network discussion, I kind of expected people to anyway, but I've edited the title for clarity.
