    Gangs are a big part of Grand Theft Auto. I think IV is first time (in the 3D age at least) we didn't really get involved with a gang and stayed more with mafia-type people. But that's more realistic of the areas. There's more of neighborhood-type gangs in NYC and LA is known for the major gang issues. So it made sense in IV and having some involvement with a gang in V would make sense.

    That's the first area I looked around. It appears that there is water below on the right of the scene because it looks bright (sun reflecting in the water I'm assuming). Again, I found similar houses overlooking sharp cliffs in the Palos Verdes Peninsula area which is pointing me there instead. There's like 1 lake outside of Beverly/Bel Air and the cliffhouses are not as similar.

    Guess I'll make a map... The light blue shows the same building in the background. The black guy running pic can be found here but it's easier to see in the trailer for both scenes.

    I'm pretty sure both of these are from the Palos Verdes Peninsula of Southwest LA: I found similar cliffhouse arrangements to the first one but the second is more of a guess.

    I don't see a compass. I see a poster about diamonds. The gold/brown logo on the poster can be seen on the doors being kicked in. Also, you can see catenaries in this scene (for the light rail train): So that's two light rail lines crossing each other (the second is above going along the expressway). update: Another angle from the red car fleeing the cops shows where the rail line goes down underground from the previous area:

    That's it? That's your only argument as to why October (a usual month for GTA releases as stated) is a "stupid" release time?

    A good observation. I'm not sure exactly how California does it either but the 2013 sticker (meaning it expires in 2013) on a car during 2012 would fit. III and IV were set around the time of their release so it would make sense with V [possibly] coming out next year. Welcome to the forums!

    It's a current event, yes. But Saying the game is "focused" on things that have been happening for years (even outside of recessions) is what OPx was getting at.

    I'll just add that the stickers are for registration and is renewed yearly as far as I can find.

    An interesting find but it is possible Rockstar didn't look that far into detail and just picked an orange color for the sticker. Looking at a year closer to now, the 2011 stickers are red (similar to orange) and the sticker colors follow a 5 year pattern as shown here (up to 2006 but the pattern continues with 2010 being yellow, 2011 red, 2012 teal). So 2003, 2008, and 2013 are (and will be) orange. pic of cop's plate for your viewing pleasure: We can also play around with the possibility that the guy in the blue car is a younger "old guy". Which would throw the story around different years. But that's another discussion.

    Word of advice for this forum: don't say something factual when it is only your opinion. Tommy would be in his 60's (born 1951). The guy in the trailer (who we've 99% nailed as Ned Luke) is in his 40/50's. We also have a topic about the main character: Protagonist Predictions?

    I hope Rockstar puts an occupy protest in GTA V. Mainly so I can run through them with a truck but also as a Vigilante mission to break them up by whatever means necessary.
