New Screens!

I still don't think there is another city, be it major or mid-size, but you do have a really good point. It would be pretty odd to have a major highway leading to . . . nowhere. -

Holy ungoddambelievable, Batman. These are gorgeous. I'm also going to vote for team lightning on this round. The weather/atmospherics are completely gorgeous. The under water environment looks awesome, too. And is that a passenger jet I see the skydiver falling from? Doesn't look military. . -

GTA 5 Release Date

Sigh, facepalm. Anyone thinking V will be released on next-gen needs to break out their logic shoes and go for a long, long jog. R* developed this entire game on existent generational technology. Even if developers already have their hands on next-gen technology, the bulk of this game was so, so very likely developed before that technology even existed. And I've said this before -- they intitially intended to release the game this spring. Perhaps as much as a year before next-gen is available in stores (maybe slightly less, maybe more). The delay has nothing to do with next-gen technology. So you really think they'd say, "Here's GTA V! Buy it now and have it collect dust until a system is released you can play it on!" No, no, no, derp, derp, no. -

I'd bet cash money it has nothing to do with the recent spate of mass shootings. It's an M-rated game that's made for adults, and can only be purchased by adults (even if they're giving it to their underage kids). The discussion in Congress said nothing about less blood. The only real concencus was to make laws more strict that allow children to buy adult games. And besides that, no legislation was passed, and I doubt it ever will. You ban violet games, you have to ban violent movies. You have to ban music with violet lyrics. But no, let's not ban fucking semi-automatic rifles! Don't worry, kiddies, GTA V is going to pour the blood down our throats just like we like it. R* wouldn't cowtow to something like that. Yes, they removed some things from GTA III, but that was due to 9/11 and Liberty being based on NYC. As tragic as the Sandy Hook shooting was, 9/11 was fucking . . . well, 9/11. No comparison. And hell, in III you could blow people's heads and limbs off for chrissakes. Also, for those who are worried that it'll be released on next gen, stop. That's idiotic. They've been developing this game since before the new console technology was even designed. Also, they did intend on releasing it in the spring. Doesn't make much sense to release a game for a console that doesn't exist yet. -

Yes, it sucks that we won't be getting the game as soon as we expected (though we all should have been expecting at least the possibility of a delay). Four months. So what. Creating a game as expansive as Grand Theft Auto is an incredibly arduous task done by a massive staff. It's something none of us can actually imagine. A good friend of mine works for Ubisoft and he's in the office every day of the week (including weekends when a big title is being developed), and he often doesn't leave until like 9 or 10 at night. These people dedicate their lives to making the games we love, and we should show them more appreciation for sacrificing their time, social lives, and sanity. They don't do it because they only care about money. They make these games because we love them, and they love them as much as we do. Have some respect and don't bitch about a measley four months. These people have had no lives for 5 years so that we get the game they think we deserve. So, in other words, shut the fuck up and be patient. -
I assume the "haze" element will return (I think we've even seen it in some screenshots) due to the actual smog problem in the L.A. metropolitan area. The difference, though, will be that GTA IV's Liberty City was gray, drab, and sullen. I always thought this was aesthetically inaccurate (I live in NYC and it's not like that). In V, I'm positive we'll have lots of sunshine, which to my mind has the promise of creating some really cool lighting effects when mixed with that haze. I hope, too, that once you're out of the city and in the countryside that will go away and you'll have more of the crispness that RDR had.

New Patrick Brown Art
The Invisible Lines replied to CaPn bOnEs's topic in GTA 5 Pre-Release Discussion (Closed)
I like it! There's always been something of a cartoonish nature to Patrick's work, so I think Chop is just fine -- it's his style. -
Positive they'll return. I'm pretty sure Tequila-la-la will be enterable as well judging by the drunk dude getting tossed out in the first trailer. There's also a scene in the second trailer of Trevor bashing some dude's head against a counter in some shitty desert dive bar. Those will be fun to start trouble in. There may be technical reasons for this, but I never really understood why a lot of enterable spaces are locked after the missions that feature them. Can someone explain why having Bahama Mamas, the Four Leaf Clover bank, the skyscraper you parachute onto the roof of and enter, etc. are closed after their respective missions? I can't image these interiors take up that much space, so why not just leave them open?

GTA V Mapped!

Sigh, I'm really starting to get frustrated when people keep insisting Los Santos is small. Los Angeles' skyline is nowhere as large/development with skyscrapers as New York City's. Just because you aren't seeing a ton of skyscrapers doesn't mean LS is smaller than LC. URBAN SPRAWL. Jesus, just look up aerials of L.A. It's not that hard. What are you looking for in GTA5?
The Invisible Lines replied to Qdeathstar's topic in GTA 5 Pre-Release Discussion (Closed)
I had the thought recently that, once the main storyline is completed, and assuming all the protags are still alive (I hope so, but it's very possible one will die -- I just hope if they do in the storyline that they are made available again upon completion), that you could custom-design your own missions. For example, you could have the option of selecting a location for a robbery/heist, and then pull it off. It wouldn't have to do anything to advance their stories, but it would be a great way to increase re-playability, and to make extra money. Just a thought. -

I believe that picture is real. Do you mean you believe it's from V? It could very well be from something, but it's not V. It would've been officially released by R* if it were real. Also, the setting is very un-L.A. Looks more like Liberty than anything.- 894 replies

I know there probably won't be much to do on this and other of the taller mountains (except for possibly snow-related activities), but just look at how much space it takes up . . . I'm actually kind of excited to scale it and see the ridiculous vistas from the very top.- 3390 replies

Planes
The Invisible Lines replied to Blackwildbeast's topic in GTA 5 Pre-Release Discussion (Closed)
Just had the thought of how awesome it would be if Trevor was piloting the cargo plane and you could play as Michael or Franklin picking off police helicopters or jets from the cargo hold with an RPG, haha. -
Interiors
The Invisible Lines replied to KingOfLosSantos's topic in GTA 5 Pre-Release Discussion (Closed)
I'm hoping for at least one of the skyscrapers to be enterable. I loved going into the enterable office in Vice and shooting people out the windows, ha. It would be great if their version of LAX (LSX, perhaps) had an interior. I don't think the whole "aiport security" thing is proof of that, though. You couldn't enter the airport in IV, but still had security/cops on your ass if you stepped onto the tarmac. -
Trailer #2 Discussion
The Invisible Lines replied to Icecoldbagey's topic in GTA 5 Pre-Release Discussion (Closed)
Well done, R*. Great trailer. Lots of action, good mix of city/countryside, nice look at the protags (nice voice acting, btw). Loving the shot of Trevor driving out of the back of the cargo plane, then jumping out of the car w/ a parachute. -
IGN Article [New Screenshots!!]
The Invisible Lines replied to JamieMilne's topic in GTA 5 Pre-Release Discussion (Closed)
Noticed that as well. Now that it's all but confirmed that L.S. is the only major city we're getting, they probably want to focus on the urbanity for these rounds of screenshots (possibly worried that some people aren't as interested in seeing somewhat action-less countryside shots . . . even though I'm more curious to see those, honestly). Seems they're focusing mainly on vehicles and the protags in mission scenarios. I've also noticed an exhorbitant amount of base-jumping/parachuting shots. Makes me wonder if there's a a lot of focus on that this time around? I certainly wouldn't mind if that were the case
