So R* confirmed a while back that purchasable property won't be on the cards. However, they did say that you would be able to spend your hard-earned money on toys of sorts. Perhaps purchasable furniture for your properties? The ability to change rooms perhaps? It would be pretty sweet to give Michael a nice arcade room in his pad. Or perhaps an upgraded trailer for Trevor? I'd imagine that cars will play a role in some way, perhaps some small scale customisation to your cars? Being able to purchase cars for your garage? More likely though, I think that R* will be focusing on weapons, weapon modifications, weapon ammo and such. What do you recon?

I've clocked about 4 hours of the campaign now, and done a fair few missions. So far I feel that the game is still a little too linear - well at least in contrast to Hitman 2. Without spoiling anything, the mission structure seems to be fairly simple and a little repetitive: sneak into an area (normally pretty linear); assassinate target(s) (here there are often more options, this is the non-linear experience I was looking forward to); and then sneak out of an area (again pretty linear). Maybe I haven't got far enough in the campaign to experience some more open maps, but I'll update this post once I'm further in. The assassinations, gun play, weapon choice, and controls are all pretty solid. Unfortunately the cover system can get a little hammy at times, with 47 walking around corners instead of peaking, etc. Also, the disguise system is seriously bugged. It is almost easier to complete assignments in the standard suit than it is to put on disguises and get instantly spotted. I haven't gotten round to playing contracts mode yet, which I'm very excited for, so I'll let ya'll know how that pans out. For reference, I bought the game for £32.99 at HMV, so far it's looking like a good buy, but from what I have played (admittedly not enough to give a solid review just yet), I wouldn't want to pay much more than that.

I think Wiz's On My Level would be sweet. I expect we'll see some Rolling Stones on the classic rock station, and perhaps an exclusive Dr Dre song on the contemporary Hip Hop station?- 739 replies

Music/Radio in GTAV
Samurai_tbag replied to Pothatuu's topic in GTA 5 Pre-Release Discussion (Closed)
The Dance music mixed into this shitty new Rap Song is good. The Artist himself Whiz Khalifa sounds like crap. And guy's like him ( with no talent ) who feel the need to sample songs of better quality for their own crap tracks are the reason why I hate a lot of the so-called Rap that comes out these days. Hip-Hop has always been about sampling...- 739 replies

Maybe they'll have some sort of scuba minigame. And loads of collectables and hidden caves. How epic would it be to swim deep and find an underwater cave that leads out to one of those huge biome caves with a hole in the top - that you see in south america. And there's an old rusty seasparrow helicopter sat in the middle waiting to be flown! Who else still thinks there will be a tropical island? If I'm not mistaken, hasn't a scuba kit being confirmed? I guess they'll be some kind of underwater races if so, perhaps using those handheld motor things. Caves would be pretty cool, I just hope they don't put too much of their resources into making a stunning sea-bed.

What I want to know is why they've focused on detailing the ocean floor so much? Honestly, who give a fuck? I think I went underwater once in SA, and considering I sunk over 400 hours into it in total, it's pretty safe to assume it's a waste of development space.

Given that Los Santos seems to be smaller than we'd all expected, anyone recon that leaves room for another city? San Diego, San Fierro, etc?

To be honest, the city doesn't look that big from what we've seen. It doesn't look like it'll be the size of LC, which is a little disappointing. I mean it's great having a massive map, but if most of it is empty (but none the less beautiful) rural and desert areas, the game will feel pretty empty and boring, no?

Trailer #2 Discussion

There's technically another GTA Trailer 2 topic. Just sayin' -
I don't care for any martial arts in GTA. Strictly uppercuts and left hooks for me. I do agree that they should go to town with Melee though, especially considering the franchise has taken a more realistic swing from the PS2 era. I feel that there is a greater likelihood of murdering someone with a hammer or screwdriver than an explosive tipped sniper round. It's all about accessibility, they should bring back DIY shops for sure, and of course IV's ability to pick shit up off the floor. Perhaps broken glass, glass bottles, shards of metal, etc... could make good knife substitutes when you're unprepared.

Actually the stained glass dome isn't from Grand Easton Station....if you go up on the roof of the building you'll see that there is no dome and none of the buildings seen through the dome are anywhere near Midtown Algonquin. The glass dome is actually from the bank you rob in Chinatown. You can tell from the fact that you can see 40 Wall St. through the glass (in red). You can also see One New York Plaza from the glass as well (in green). If you fly out and land on top of the bank you'll see the stained glass dome and the two skyscrapers as seen through it. I stand corrected. None the less, you can still check out the doors at Grand Easton, they look odd.

A lot of people moaned about the lack of interiors in GTA IV, I thought it had a decent amount. Law Firm, Museum, Bank of Liberty, Subway System, to name a few. Plus there were a lot of random apartment blocks, flats, and houses that you could enter around Liberty City - most of them having no mission relation. One thing I did notice is that for whatever reason they never included Grand Central station, although if you go to the doors, you can see that they were intended to open, and if you remember, it was featured in the first trailer. So as long as V has the same amount of interiors as IV did, relative to size minus the country side, I would be more than happy. I guess around twice as many interiors as IV. One thing I would like them to do though, is vary the interiors a bit more. In IV you could be in any of a hundred flats and you would have no idea which one it was from the inside. Also, interiors with escape routes are important, places where you can hold up a rampage, and then break out some back door or something.

This game is really shaping up to be something special. I've got a sad feeling it may end up like Deus Ex Human Revolution though - critically acclaimed, but commercially unsuccessful.

GTA IV had perfect driving physics, why do they have to go and change it. Midnight Club was an awful racing game with awful car handling - quite possibly R*'s only bad title. Yeah, probably. It's a screenshot, and it's not cinematic so I imagine that's how the game will look. To be honest, it doesn't look - that - different from GTA IV. It doesn't surprise me.
-
I'm pretty sure enterable buildings will play a big part. Part of the reason V will be so big is due to the effort R* have gone to building so many interiors. But you're right, it's pretty sweet that the draw distance hasn't blurred out the inside of the building from that distance - which it would have on IV.

For some reason I couldn't kill civilians or domestic animals, every time I go up to try and attack them, he just swings his weapon around... very odd.

Well much of the area is considered gang territory, I travelled across the whole US, not just LA. LA was the least scary, and least exciting place I've ever been, but that's IMO. Back to the point, R* have rightfully moved away from that low-brow gangbanging cliche, which is excellent news, lets just hope they don't ruin the immersion with multiplace characters. -

I, a white Englishman, walked through various areas in South Central when I went, and it didn't look like Boyz-n-da-Hood. It looked less intimidating than London to be honest. So I beg to differ on the first point. The fact that they have modernised pretty much concludes my arguement. They have changed, as has the culture. -

There are more gangs then ever in LA, especially when it comes to Mexican/Hispanic Gangs in South Central/East LA ( probably 5 to 10 times the number compared to the 90's ). You miss the point, there may be more gangs, but the gang culture has changed. 90s LA was characterised, in part, by gangbangers in lowriders. I'm not from LA, but from an outsiders perspective, through media exposure and visting, the gang culture there now is pretty different. There may be more gangsters, but how they operate has changed. A little like how the mob culture in the North East is different now, to the 1930's (though obviously not as drastic as that example).
