Guest Marney1 Report post Posted March 3, 2012 (edited) Just downloaded 'Collusion' - Firefox's new add-on which lets you track who's tracking you. Some info about it here. This is what mine looks like at the moment, only downloaded it 5 minutes ago. No idea what acamaihd.net is or why it's decided to track me via Twitter. Aaaaaaaaaaaarrrgghhh it's getting bigger! Pretty good add-on. About time we were able to spy on who's spying on us. Edited March 3, 2012 by Marney1

Guest Marney1 Report post Posted March 3, 2012 So in English what does this show you? It shows what companies are [were] secretly spying on you for the purposes of 'research'.
Mercy 30 Report post Posted March 3, 2012 Oh fair enough I guess, so once you know can you stop it? Also what exactly are they looking at, or using to find you? I mean is it people that search for your Twitter and things. I don't really see the need for it if when you can't stop it anyway. Jus' saying.

At the moment, how I understand it; it's kind of like information sharing between different websites and marketing companies probably so they can see who best to spam certain adverts with and god knows what else. Firefox are looking into building a database of the worst offenders so they can try and do something to stop them but for now you can just check who's tracking you without your express permission. Of course you may have agreed to be spied on by third party websites by clicking 'Agree' on Googles Terms & Conditions which as we know are written in such a way as to make you believe it's all for your own good. Still trying to get my head round it.
narcolepsy 581 Report post Posted March 3, 2012 Acamaihd takes care of all the hosting for twitter. Img's etc. I use two addons, Disconnect which directly stops tracking cookies from bigger websites. and BetterProtect which does it for most tracking/super cookies.
