Rayge 689 Report post Posted June 30, 2012 So I have like 400GB of media and stuff on my external hard drive, but now it's suddenly stopped working. So it says I need to format it, but this will result in me loosing all data on it, which would really fucking suck. Is there any way I can get my data back without a paid software? narcolepsy 581 Report post Posted June 30, 2012 Could try http://www.piriform.com/RECUVA That's the best thing for it I guess, besides taking it apart and connecting it via sata and seeing if it'll work. Be sure to restore to another hard drive though. Maximizes chance of recovery.
Rayge 689 Report post Posted July 1, 2012 Thanks, after looking for a while I found a program called EASUS. However, it's quite a hassle as the data needs to be transfered to my computer because i don't have a 2nd HDD. The problem is when it says it requires 800GB, so I'll have to do it twice or more. And each time takes up to 15 hours... But at least it's getting sorted, I'll see when it's all done if it worked.
