Ku Zi Mu 1194 Report post Posted September 28, 2012 It started happening earlier this year. I try to connect my PS3 to my MP4 via USB and my PS3 doesn't even recognise it. It's as if I didn't even plug it in. It use to always work just fine before. I use to transfer data with no problem but now.. nothing. I have 4GB of space that I can't use. Do any of you have any idea why this is happening?
BlackSox9 448 Report post Posted September 28, 2012 You should of just googled the question. If you've got a computer or laptop on which to store the music on your mp4. Then follow these steps to send music to your ps3: Note 1: The music you want to send has to be in your Music Folder on your PC. Note 2: Your PS3 and PC might have to be on the same Internet connection. - O.K if you have Windows Vista ( probably works for Windows XP ) make sure you have media sharing on. Then load up Windows Media Player on the PC. - Turn the PS3 on, then go to Options on WMP Sharing and from that you should see an unkown device ( The PS3 ) listed there. Highlight this and press allow to allow sharing, then click apply now. - On the PS3 select search for media servers ( PS3 might automatically find your computer ), then when it finds your computer select the Windows Media Icon and all your music on your computer should appear. - Just select any song from your computer and press Triangle to bring up the Menu and then press Copy to send the file to your PS3. The song will then be sent to your PS3. This will also work for Pictures and Video. Hope that helps.

gtagrl 4317 Report post Posted September 29, 2012 Might be an internal connection issue with the port, does it recognize other USB devices in the same jack? Also, have you had the console for a long time?
DuPz0r 5361 Report post Posted September 29, 2012 The mp4 format supports many codec types within it as it's a sort of container file. And the mp4 that the PS3 understands only supports some of the codecs. You will need to either find a different format to play, or use a free converter to change the codecs to something it will read. Types of files that can be played: The following types of files can be played under (Video). Memory Stick Video Format - MPEG-4 SP (AAC LC) - H.264/MPEG-4 AVC High Profile (AAC LC) - MPEG-2 TS(H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, AAC LC) MP4 file format - H.264/MPEG-4 AVC High Profile (AAC LC) MPEG-1 (MPEG Audio Layer 2) MPEG-2 PS (MPEG2 Audio Layer 2, AAC LC, AC3(Dolby Digital), LPCM) MPEG-2 TS(MPEG2 Audio Layer 2, AC3(Dolby Digital), AAC LC) MPEG-2 TS(H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, AAC LC) AVI - Motion JPEG (Linear PCM) - Motion JPEG (μ-Law) AVCHD (.m2ts / .mts) DivX WMV - VC-1(WMA Standard V2) As you can see above. It's not just the video codecs you have to look out for when converting, it's also the sound codecs too. I always have this problem when trying to view mp4 files, so i've come to understand which format, quality and sound bitrate to look out for before acquiring a video file. Ku Zi Mu 1194 Report post Posted September 29, 2012 Might be an internal connection issue with the port, does it recognize other USB devices in the same jack? Also, have you had the console for a long time? Yes it dies. Nope, 2 years. I just tried connecting the MP4 to my laptop and I got the same problem. Maybe the USB cable got damaged. I'll buy another and see if that helps.

gtagrl 4317 Report post Posted September 29, 2012 Hopefully it's just the USB cable, that's a cheap and easy fix.

I'm late to the party on this one, but check out Pazera. It will convert damn near any video format to damn near any other. Also good for extracting/converting audio. Search for it on download.com or just google it.
