TreeFitty 2631 Report post Posted January 2, 2013 Is photoshop trying to make a low-bit image? I think that's a "mode" setting. First thing I would check with such a bad case of banding. If not that then dithering would be next to check. I know photoshop can simplfy the color palette to be HTML friendly but that would go back to the bit size as far as I know. DuPz0r 5361 Report post Posted January 2, 2013 Yeah fitty is right. This is called gradient banding. You look like you're in a very low bit mode. For the smoothest possibles gradient you need a high bit. depending on your monitor and the file extensions you save the image out, the quality of the gradient could differ. Try making a 32bit image and redraw your gradient, and aave it as either a TGA (targa), BMP or PNG for best quality.
narcolepsy 581 Report post Posted January 2, 2013 Does CS5 come with a different bit mode from CS4 then? I used CS4, never pissed around with the bit mode and gradients were always smooth. Uhhh...
DuPz0r 5361 Report post Posted January 2, 2013 Hmm... Can you show us your colour picker so we can see how many colours you have to work with? You may have web colours ticked.
