What are you listening to... (GTA edition)

Recommended Posts

Simple rules.

Having a flashback? Want some nostalgia? Post a song from any GTA that you're currently listening to.

I'll go first.

These two are probably my defining songs for Vice City (They all are, I know)

Vice City. A gorgeous gaming experience. I knew it was going to be very special within the first 3 minutes of play.

Nipping along the sun washed beach on a scooter, bathing in neon, clicking to Flash FM and...

Magic.

I loved pretty much the whole sound track in SA but my favorite has to be Them Bones by Alice in Chains, followed by Aint Nothin' But a G Thang and Personal Jesus.

@gunsmith, that ray yo yo song i fell in love with immediately as soon as i heard it... beastie boys did a short skit with it, it's what i associate it with... i fucking love that shit, it's the only song that keeps me from changing the station off of east los santos...

this topic made me want to listen to this song again...

it came on while i was doing some getaway driving for someone the first time... i was the getaway driver, while the radio sung a song about that very thing... R* is quite clever with their song choices at times... flashing lights from kanye is another good example... even tho it's about the stars and fame, it fits the situation on chases...

In the Lost and Damned when I had to flee the botched heroine deal with Nicko and Playboy X, this song

came on the radio as I was fleeing on my Hog.

I remember telling that story to a friend and another guy overheard the story and was all like Bullshit!

Too many brain cells have been blazed to remember Vice City...

There was nothing better than cruising around the orange tinged streets of Los Santos (GTA:SA) in my drop top, flickin' the switch to make the ass drop to this song...

Or around the Venturas desert playing this one...

I had a moment in GTAV when I was racing over the Vinewood Hills (maybe the end of a mission) and this song came on and everything just felt right...

Lately, I've been listening to assorted GTA radio stations at work, finding complete streams with DJ chatter, not just a playlist of songs. Fortunately, they already think I'm nuts - the commercials and intros keep making me laugh.

Today's song of the day: Life's What You Make It, by Talk Talk, from Vice City's Flash FM.

"We tell you what's good, then play-play-play-play-play it till you like it..."

Just drove up from San Diego to Beverly Hills, and in the 2 hour drive I must have listened to half the songs in GTAV and San Andreas on the radio. Rockstar really does a great job of capturing the essence of the cities they recreate with their music selection.

Rockstar also introduced me to plenty of great songs from different eras that I otherwise never would have been able to enjoy.

It's been one hell of a journey playing GTA games all these years.

I've been listening to GTA V's cut music recently. Such a shame they didn't include at least some of these songs. Maybe DLC one day?

Those non-stop pop and LSRR lists..

Some people found those songs in the trackID.gtx2 database (whatever that is). Whether the songs were removed before release or intended for dlc is unknown. imo, a lot of the cut songs are better than what ended up in the game. Oasis, Bob Dylan, Jamiroquai, Jackson 5... FFS R*

Cheesy as fuck but take the l out of lover from vc is such an awesome song. Every time it comes on I have to pull over and sing that first verse.

Also, been caught stealing by alice is the reason I left the music on so long in SA. That an I believe the original of love roller coaster was on that sound track. Honestly though, 4 & 5, I have pretty much turned the tunes off from the start. I'm a product of the 80s & 90s

bOnEs mentioned the Paradise van on the tweets today, so I listened to Eddie Money's Two Tickets to Paradise. That got me nostalgic for GTA SA, so I listened to KJAH West, with commercials. It was the audio version of having a beer with an old friend visiting from out of town.

I heard this whilst dining on holiday over summer. Not only did it remind me of the good times I've had on GTAV/O, but it also reminds me of home, the good and bad times, growing up in London, England.
