ViceMan 1380 Report post Posted September 9, 2016 You can choose which ones you take by talking to Shank near the Nukatown USA market; you can also talk them into supplying your gangs and other raider settlements with resources and caps. Any caps generated go to your overboss chest in the Fizztop, but you unlock certain items in workshop mode by claiming more settlements, once you hit 8 you can build a tribute chest which i'm assuming allows you to collect the caps without going back to NW every time. One thing to note however is if there are any companions at a settlement or any npcs with quests, then you can't select it from the list to attack. Shank will just say you can't do it, so just move them somewhere else and complete any quests from settlers.
CaPn bOnEs 8527 Report post Posted September 9, 2016 apparently there has to be at least one settler there as well... a couple of the locaitons he mentioned have a population of zero but i can't raid them... also, how do i get my happiness up at my main raider hub? i built like 2 of everything for happiness and took over two other places for supplies...
ViceMan 1380 Report post Posted September 9, 2016 I've raided places with no one in them, the Disciples just say something like "what the hell, there's nobody here" when you speak to them to begin the raid, then it tells you to put the flag up. I put loads of the amplifiers down in Starlight and a few pick me up stations, plus the raider shops. The happiness went up to nearly 95 but then there wasn't enough food so it dropped down to 30ish, since i've aready killed a lot of the settlements they can't supply food, so I just set up a load of protectrons to farm at Starlight. ViceMan 1380 Report post Posted September 9, 2016 how do you unlock the raider shops?? i don't see the perk in the perk tree to unlock? Wasteland Warlord? You unlock that by claiming more settlements, I think three settlements unlocks rank 2 and 8 unlocks rank 3 which gives you the tribute chest. The most annoying thing about it was having to keep going back to Shank in NW (playing survival mode here,) but once you hit three settlements he should offer to go to the Commonwealth and you can assign him one of your settlements. Darth Sexy 316 Report post Posted September 10, 2016 I always hated Cazadores more than Nightstalkers, so much harder to hit as their flight is so erratic. Still, they both pale in comparison to the TERRIFYING vampiric bloodbug. Cazadores are harder one on one, definitely. However a wing shot makes them pretty tame. My issues with Nightstalkers are the noise they make, and the fact they often rush me in groups of up to 8. Probably doesn't help I insist on using melee weapons on them as there is little ammo for my cowboy guns in OWB. Also I like being an axe wielding maniac.
Synch 476 Report post Posted September 11, 2016 Fairly unhappy that I spent the better part of a year owning and refining and perfecting all the settlements, making everyone happy. Tearing the beauty down, listening to my "former" settlers is fucked. You don't just give up 3 settlements, you give up many more for support. That really pisses me off. Once a settlement becomes a food supplier, even if you do it as gently as possible by paying them, they hate you. I've moved most people out of the more uglier places, tore down most the cool stuff there. Just build up my better places to house more settlers. I could care less about Raiders. Sticking with it for now to complete the achievements but yeah, what a load of dogshit. Hate throwing that work away. In the end I'm going Operator. Secondary is the Pack because I like the psychedelic paint, and they say so much profoundly stupid shit that is actually funny. Nisha and the Disciples .....it's not all women. There are dudes there too. Sick of hearing them talk so giving them the least amount of property, to hopefully bring on the end. I guess my 2nd play of Nuka World with Nate of the BOS will definitely take the Doctor's option...... For now I went back to exploring and found 2 more full sets of X-01. Another 2 recipe books and I now have 17 Nuka Recipes.
Massacre 7646 Report post Posted September 12, 2016 I'm a little buggered about Nuka World being based around raiders. There isn't a single chaotic or evil (not that I consider raiders evil) faction in the the main game, so it's a complete 180 for your character, unless you've been ignoring the main story and just acting like a dick the whole game. My Institute character became disillusioned with humanity and joined the Children of the Atom, in Far Harbor, so even he doesn't work as a raider. I like the premise, and I think it's a fun DLC, but there's nothing about the base game that makes it actually work as a story.

I think it's a fun DLC, but there's nothing about the base game that makes it actually work as a story. One thing that remains is your relationships. I thought that I wouldn't like Gage, but it turns out I liked listening to this guy's stories, each time he wanted to talk leading up to giving you his perk. Regardless of his faction, my first character does enjoy a friendship with him. He's like a neutral companion in many ways. That's one of the highlights, but yeah, nothing really makes it work as a story. I've now lost a total of 7+ settlements due to NW and its bugs. 2 settlements I now cannot access workshop at all. But they are still decked out as I designed them, kind of funny to see it happen like that. Be warned what you give up.
CaPn bOnEs 8527 Report post Posted September 12, 2016 i picked settlements that were pretty much empty... and yea, it just doesn't feel right for my main character... i had to kill minutement ffs, it felt dirty... but i pretty much don't really want to turn any more of my settlements into raider camps... i'll save that for my 2nd character, with whom it should fit nicely with... but it just doesn't feel right... i'll do some more exploring in nuka world but i am pretty much done with this game for awhile... shabbagaz 444 Report post Posted September 12, 2016 I 'took over' three of my settlements and felt quite dirty for doing so - just didn't seem right even though the settlements were sparsely populated. Which leads me to asking.... can you 're-take' a settlement and get shut of the raiders? (and would doing that doctor's quest have any bearing on these settlements?). Anyway, I've been busy at work trying to finish off Sanctuary Hills - I think I may finally get it finished this week, so be prepared for shit loads of screenshots! I think I've pushed it to it's very limit as the frame rate is pretty poor when in workshop mode. Managed to get my museum finished which is now equipped with Nuka World stuff. Was also going to build a 'church' but decided to make it into a 'fun factory' with the games from Nuka World along with the Nuka World mixers. I've built that much that Sanctuary Hills is practically unrecognisable. Here's a 'sneak preview' ahead of the full unveiling later this week!

Which leads me to asking.... can you 're-take' a settlement and get shut of the raiders? (and would doing that doctor's quest have any bearing on these settlements?). It felt good to immortalize the Red Rocket in Nuka World - but the Commonwealth is a different story. The Operators own that NW site, and I actually built it like my settlements and prefer it over the Fizztop Grille HQ. Decked it out with all the stuff they like, plus the farm and protection, it looks and feels pretty raider cool. Also riding the rides is pretty fun, and i still like making all the different Nuka Colas variations. My Sanctuary palace has always been a museum, right now build 3 has all the awesome weapons in display, , as well as the costumed mannequins from Nuka World and the DLC's as well. I just added the Nuka Cola Orange Mixer to the party area by the Pommel Horse in both the Vault and Sanctuary so everyone in the settlement can enjoy. I'm so retarded. If you've spent any long amount of time building up the free world, losing any settlement feels dirty. I just got an alert that Outpost Zimonja was under attack, and was witness to the Pack killing one of my own. So i did a little test to bend the rules, but not enable the Doctor's quest. I basically stripped out every build, bed, and bit of food from these guys on my land. Took down their flag and beacon. Traded with them and took everything they have. Now when they get attacked, good luck defending. They have nothing. BUT - I did not 're-take' because that would mean killing all raider factions and making Gage hostile. For now I keep the distance - my BOS guy will not be so kind. There was no loss or failure. As I told Massacre, after a year of building up, I've already lost over 7 settlements for giving up just 3.....that's a load of dogshit. This DLC has no story backed by the Commonwealth. Doesn't make sense. Nordhagen all hate me and I can no longer use build menu. That's fucked, I built it beautiful and was at 95% happiness. Murkwater is dead in the water, no use at all, by anyone as it was owned by Disciple dudes. Now just an activity marker on the work chest, which will not allow you to do anything, and the 3 lonely Provisioners walking around in their Heavy Combat gear...... I should have chosen the airport or the mechanist's lair as they are uninhabited. Anyway, good luck with your raider game. We can always start a new game! EDIT: Same test results with Croup Manor and the Operators - BOS invaded, I did nothing to help.. Stripped the place of everything except the build chest - no messages of failure or otherwise. So maybe we will hear about this from Shank? I don't know...I just play it as I go. Here are some shots of Sanctuary Palace 3 interior floors 1 & 2 of 3, just a homey home of weaponry and apparel. Not a Shabbtastic build, but these are the most serious weapons in the game mounted for quick grabbing and use! Screen 2 - December's Child maxed out and idolized above the desk by the bed, on the 2nd floor. I love this gun.
ViceMan 1380 Report post Posted September 13, 2016 I didn't mind taking over settlements, i'd started this playthrough a few weeks before NW came out and I already knew I wanted to be a bad guy, just a pity it's so difficult to be the bad guy in the Commonwealth as everything is streering you to be the good guy and you have no real reason to be bad anyway. I actually hit level 100 faster playing on survival mode, none of my previous characters have got past level 90 IIRC, I always get bored of them as i've finished the main story by 80+ but this guy i'm happy plodding along with, taking over places for the Disciples and the Pack. One problem though is that a lot of the enemies aren't respawning as they should, the behemoth and raider with the fat man in Lexington have never respawned since I killed them ages ago, nor at the Wreck of the USS Riptide, the South Boston military checkpoint, Big John's Salvage and many other places, making travelling quite boring. I'm always glad when I come across a savage deathclaw or something, just to liven my journey up.

I'm always glad when I come across a savage deathclaw or something, just to liven my journey up. May be a detail due to being in Survival Mode? Killed once, dead for all. Try Murkwater, always good for 5 Queen Steaks. The Lexington Behemoth I've seen only once each play through. Rare dude. The ones by Gunner's Plaza and Recon Bunker Theta are also good re-spawns. Edit: For those of you who hate Preston Garvey, set up the Raiders from Nuka World. Will never hear from him again. Just found out by going to visit Shaun at the Castle. Preston is completely different after Minutemen got raped by the Pack. Now I have to test Elder Maxson and Desdemona from the Railroad. But yeah, Preston finally shuts up after NW. ViceMan 1380 Report post Posted September 13, 2016 The behemoth has always respawned in my previous playthroughs, I was always hearing explosions from the fat man raider bombing him when I passed through Lexington. Murkwater is under the control of the Disciples. Apparently the respawn time has been upped to 30 ingame days for survival to "prevent loot farming" from enemies so you have to stay away from cells if you want them to come back. Sounds kinda bullshit to me, it makes the game much more boring and empty.
shabbagaz 444 Report post Posted September 15, 2016 (edited) Right here we go! Can't post them all here so here's a selection. This was without doubt my biggest and most ambitious build to date and being honest I don't think I'll build anything of the magnitude again! I really did push it to it's limits which resulted in a very slow frame-rate and the game crashing occasionally. My original plan was to build even more stuff there but had to scale it back due to the frame-rate issue and I had also pinned my hopes on the mods being released. It's not perfect - you'll notice plenty of imperfections, I either couldn't be bothered or literally couldn't fix them. Also apologies for the quality of the screenshots - 1. I had to get the angle right as parts/walls etc weren't showing due to the frame rate and 2. The perils of uploading to Facebook! Anyway, starting off with the exterior: Upon entering 'Gaztopia', all newcomers have to be tested for aids! I actually built over the river too to create an outside seating & dining area: Now to go inside! Here's the reception desk. Utility & maintenance Since I had to obviously keep the workshop area accessible, I made it into the maintenance office. I also created a 'summerhouse' and greenhouse Onto the factory: I kept another of the old houses accessible and made it into a crack den! Back in the main part, settlers can dance the night away: Clinic General living area Cafe Another living area Mama Murphy's 'storytelling' area! Onto the museum View from a balcony Pool club & casino Gym Sleeping quarters My office! The Nuka World 'Fun Factory' Outside balcony The full set of screenshots can be found here including rooms I haven't featured in this post: https://www.facebook.com/shabbagaz/media_set?set=a.10153586806224009.1073741827.634939008&type=3 Edited September 15, 2016 by shabbagaz
