I'm having ridiculous amounts of fun with the Bozar. I think it's time to make another courier purely for sniping purposes. It shouldn't take too long to get together enough caps to buy the Bozar, and Sleepytyme for close-quarters.

i don't like the bozar... it can't even penetrate the armor of the legion hit squads... i surrounded myself by them, then hit each one with a VATS shot to the face, and each shot showed that i would turn their heads into goo with a single shot... barely hurt any of them... and the accuracy is not even close to as advertised... it's just not that good of a weapon, i think my all-american is more accurate and effective than this heavy overpriced piece of shit... what a letdown :(...

same with the katana...

the new fatman ammo is pretty impressive, especially the tiny tots :D... but it sucks that you have to buy the GRA fatman to use the new ammo... what's the deal with that?! so i bought esther instead...

the lil devil and sleepytime are fun little weapons... but again, neither are that effective... the explosive round for the AMR is not that good... i didn't try the incendiary 12g rounds called "dragon's breath" but i should, the riot shotgun is my weapon of choice... really, i am not at all impressed with the GRA... the chainsaw however, is very very impressive!! the mods make one hell of a mess out there...

i know i haven't tried all the weapons but only the chainsaw has impressed me... delilah uses the ballistic fist religiously so, i know she's going to enjoy the unique one called, "two-step goodbye" :D... and the most disapointing thing is the new "mad bomber" perk that came with the pack... my current level 50 character is an explosives expert, yet he can't take this perk ... i wanna make MFC clusters and fat-mines...

ohh, and i didn't have this bottle cap issue that you all seemed to have... i brought with me about 20 fully repaired expensive weapons to trade for these things... and after buying about 6 or so weapons and ammo, i actually gained about 10,000 caps :D... i went through a shitload of repair kits but, thanks to dead money, that's just not an issue at all...

I didn't get into Old World Blues last night, but I did get the achievements for Melee, Energy Weapons, Using the GRA weapons, and The Sasparilla Cap Challenge - or whatever.

I watched the trailer for OWB at work yesterday and caught this little gem:

6197308887_841ae9961a_b.jpg

Please tell me this is a helmet I can wear. If not, what about the space suit? Somehow I didn't get one from the Rocket factory...

Unfortunately, you can't wear the helmet. Even though it is a wearable item, it's NPC-only, like the Burned Man's bandages.

As for the space suit, there should be one on a shelf in the control room in the Repconn basement. If you go back to check, remember the manhole outside that goes directly to the basement, no need to run through the whole building.

about hardcore mode; yea i played on hardcore, mainly to get the trophy for beating the game... i used a cannibal mexican named sanchez and took the house route, which i do believe is the fastest route... i didn't play any of the add-ons with him, but playing in hardcore isn't too hard... staying hydrated will be your main issue... know where the rad-free water is... health doesn't heal instantly, but over time, which is also another hurdle to get used to... bighorner meat is very effective when cooked, and is ABUNDANT in the wasteland... but eventually you'll reach the ability to craft desert salads and other various healing items...

i do believe i am going to play my next file on hardcore... i kind of enjoyed having other things to worry about... it made the experience that much more involved... i just don't know i am going to make it through the add-ons though, especially lonesome road... it was hard even with my two badass destroyers of the wasteland... and dead money?? wow, having to craft food with the minimal supplies in the madre would make it super hard to finish...

however, i still i think want to do it... or just play on normal, but invest in survival for healing instead of medicine... but you have to at least play and beat the game in hardcore mode eventually, especially if you want that achievement... you can avoid the add-ons if you wanted to...

------------------------

got through the lonesome road add-on with delilah late last night... and once i got passed the marked men camps near the beginning, i didn't have those glitch issues, the same thing with my first run through... however, exactly like my first playthrough, once i made it back to the mojave, it crashed and crashed and crashed..

WHAT THE FUCK?!? i thought i remember reading that obisidian has officially turned the lights out on new vegas, mentioning that a patch will probably not happen... if that's the case, my all-time favorite game will be broken forever, leaving me stuck with a glitchy game that crashes every 10 minutes... what a disappointing end to my otherwise unforgettable experience... makes wonder if creating a new character would be worth it since i will eventually reach this very same point of constant crashing...

i know it's numerous factors that are going into this issue...

1) this world has been overstuffed by obsidian, practically breaking the oblivion engine...

2) the farther you get into the game, the bigger the game save gets, and the more information the world if tasked to remember... this is what i though caused my crashing problems with fallout 3...

3) hopeville has a lot of stuff happening in it, and lots of world junk lying around... and anytime those factor together, the frame rate takes a shit... now throw in enemies that throw grenades and launch rockets at you... adding more explosions on top of the alreadt destructive warheads and numerous fire barrels and cars on fire... it's just too much going on...

4) the DAMN FIRE!! i have had an issue with it, as far back as the first time in entered the strip and watched gomorrah crash my game... there is seriously something wrong with the fire animation, or something with the code...

and these are probably PS3 issues as well... not sure if xbox has these problems... i won't even ask PC users, they've got their own patches and things to fix the game... we're unfortunately stuck with what obsidian wants to do about the problem...

here's hoping they at least issue one more game patch... if not, they'll ruin my greatest gaming experience in the 20-some years of playing games ...

Yeah, even my PC has been lagging playing New Vegas for a while, but for some reason, the Divide ran smoothly for me. Things were just as shitty as before once I went back to the Mojave, though. Lonesome Road majorly fucked my load times up.

I knocked out a bunch of the challenges for the Gun Runners. I couldn't find any listing of them in the game

They are in your PiP-Boy under Data/Misc/then hit Y for the challenges.

I won't be getting many of them simply because the targets are already dead like House, Caesar, etc.

I haven't been back to the Fallout Wiki since I found errors on their OWB write ups.

Someone at work did tell me though, there is a write up there under Lonesome Road

call "The Divide" and it explains what the Courier did before that Ulysses is talking about.

I have no idea if it's valid or fiction, but I certainly don't remember what is written there

as I had never been to the Divide before, and, well you'll have to read it for yourselves.

I don't go to the Wiki anymore.

If anyone was wondering what I meant by bOnEs was right again upon first play of Lonesome Road,

the answer is, he found the Hopeville Map in Old World Blues. (Y) Great work bOnEs.

Fuck me. I dowloaded those two packs (they are sweet thanks for telling me they were up because xbox live is gay and didnt decide to put it up again) and it gave me all of the little extras when I was in the back of the X-13 research facility on peak capacity. I had to walk the rest of it :wall:

I think that I've gotten all the new GRA weapons now, even the high dollar ones.

Funny after all this new heavy weaponry, I think I still like the Chainsaw best.

The Ripper mods are similar to the Chainsaw mods.

Someone here was saying the Katana is not at the Gun Runners,

well I can't remember which vendor I got it from but I have it with 3 mods.

It's still interesting that when you hit Y you can perform a special new move.

Also tonight found a 3rd mod for the GRA AMR, at the 188 over pass.

That's going to be the tricky bit, finding all the mods between vendors.

I've even seen traveling caravans selling some GRA stuff.

Thanks to the Legion and Fiends, finally I'm back up to over 200K caps.

I sold a ton of stuff to get the GRA weapons, but the trick is you have to

keep wiping out groups of losers and take all their shit. Plus making the

high value chems and food helps. Mostly I sold apparel and weapons. When

I see NCR and Fiends fighting, I just wait it out, see how much loot I can get.

Was going to do Dead Money but no time now, tomorrow night at midnight I pick up RAGE.

I think Mick & Ralph's is a guaranteed spot to buy the katana. A couple of tips: Once you get two mods for the katana, it seems to take forever for the third to show up, and the sheath has a tendency to glitch out and stay on your hip regardless of what weapon you have equipped. If that happens, just save and quit, then reload from the main menu.

Also, let us know how Rage goes, Synch. I'm planning on getting it after a couple price drops. I'm not sure what system to get it on though. PC seems ideal, but it looks pretty graphically demanding, and I've heard it's a 25-gig install. I've also heard the 360 version comes on 3 discs.

I figured out I am totally fucked as far as Mick and Ralph's go. I paid the dude at the Atomic Wrangler to raise my standing in Freeside, but I'm still listed as a DARK HERO and everyone hates my dick. Probably because I killed the Van Graffs, I guess they were tight with Mick and Ralph. I might go back and kill Mick and Ralph off, fuck them.

Anyway, I found the Katana at the Gun Runner's finally. It was like a week or two in game before it showed up there. I had already bought the upgrades ahead of time so I was very pleased to see it for sale. I had been checking with Chet in Novac, Alexander at the 188 and the Gun Runners every couple of days and it randomly appeared.

I like it - not just for the extra move in Vats (which is almost a guaranteed kill for most humans) but if you hold down the attack button, you can attack from afar with a like running attack. Not only is it affective in real time fighting, I've also used it to avoid some DeathClaw attacks, although it isn't very affective against a Deathclaw.

Like Synch, I have been funding my GRA purchases by killing off the Legion Assassin's, then selling all their shit after combining/fixing it all up. Most of their weapons go for an easy 1500 before being fixed up. I'm back to the +50,000 cap mark.

I won't be getting RAGE until probably some time next year. I'm way too overwhelmed with my backlog for it to already be the holiday season!

yea the chainsaw is still the best weapon from the GRA pack... greased lightning is pretty effective too for an unarmed player... the new unique ballistic fist is actually weaker than the normal one, and the explosion it gives off is actually not that effective...

the problem with the new weapons is the price vs. effectiveness... most, if not all, are inferior to the already available weapons after level 15 when the world upgrades it's aresenal... but then again, i think these could be very very effective early to mid game... they are almost worthless to level 40 characters...

i am about to beat the game again with bones... i wanna do the final battle with all the gear i aquired from the add-ons... plus, i didn't enlist the enclave the first time... i am ready to get the final battle started, but i can already tell that it's going to crash A LOT!! this game is almost broken for me and it very very sad that it's come down to this :(...

i might have to play something else because i don't think i can take another 100 hours of this lagfest that new vegas has become... need to hold off for SR3, which is soon, right?

I think that whole area is Freeside Karma man. Depending on what you did with the Kings, the twins, and the Followers of the Apocalypse. I bet you can still fix this problem. I killed the Van Graffs after going through their missions up until they want you to kill Cass, then I played the Crimson Caravan lady against them and snuck in and stole both notes from both sides (Crimson Caravan and the Van Graffs), for the evidence. I didn't let Cass kill the CC lady, and then I killed the Van Graffs. I also did a shitton of missions for the Kings, the Followers, (including side rescue missions) and the missions for the twins at the casino bar across the street from the Van Graffs. Also I did the NCR lesbian's mission (raped by Cook-Cook) to get her hooked up with Dr.Usanagi for treatment, who is friends with the Followers doctor lady. All that shit must add up to good Freeside karma, I am guessing. The Katana has interesting points, and it's reminiscent of Vice City, but in my thinking it's not worth killing Mick and Ralph. Besides, they got bOnEs' hula girl music firing off in the front of their store. Course that will still be there if they dead.

Today XBox LIVE was offline for awhile, and I was worried about my new achievements. My Master of the Arsenal and Curios and Relics achievements just never showed up, and I have no idea why. So I don't know what's up with those not showing up on XBox LIVE. However when they came back online, to my surprise, two new ones that I had been working on, did authenticate, as I had followed the direction of my PiP-Boy. Got the achievement for the first 1-star GRA, by doing these three: Crippling 5 right arms with shotguns, Killing 15 ghouls via Maria and Gehenna, and then killing 10 Centaurs via Throwing Spears. That one is called Up to the Challenge. I guess they are only showing up in lowest to highest order. The second was Combat Veteran, the 2-star GRA, by doing these three: Killing Fiends and Vipers with my modified .44 Magnum, followed by killing 15 super mutants using the Bozar on the hostile ones and the Ripper on the ones up at Black Mountain, with no karma loss on the friendly ones. The final work for that achievement is quite the challenge, take out 5 of the Legion Assassin Squad with a .44 Magnum, part of "any weapons for the Cowboy perk" and I wanted to use the .44, but it was a challenge. I had to go basically 1 dude out of each attack as they are insanely talented as Massacre noted, and also due to the fact that I took the damn Mystery Stranger Girl perk er whatever during VATS so that she takes over and I didn't get the points. Besides you need to be wide awake during their attacks, to take them all out. I usually am, but not using pistols, I usually burn, bomb, or snipe them with the AMR. When I finally got the last one after an average of about 5-6 attacks, I just focused on the target dude, after VATS runs out, and kept shooting, until he went down and I got the achievement. Then I paused, switched to the Thump-Thump, loaded up some very lovely 40mm Plasma Grenades, and watched the party. As usual, total pwnage.

The 3-star GRA achievements are technically possible for me, but they will be very time consuming. I'm going with Sentry Bots via Lead Pipes, which I've already started at Las Vegas Steel, and the Cazadores via Long Fuse Dynamite, which will be tricky, but the hardest by far will be the adult Deathclaws by Switchblade. L0L. More to reality, I think I'll go Stealth Boy, and use a Silenced .22 Pistol and/or Dynamite for those bitches. That one could take years.

===============================================================================

Against my better judgment I checked the Fallout Wiki (dammit) and I did get all the achievements for The Lonesome Road. Also there were no achievements for finding all of Ulysses' Tapes, the History Lessons, the Ralphie Posters, or finding all the LR map locations, which I spent the time during the game to get all of those knocked out as usual. At least I get a sense of accomplishment out of this. I always say, get your money's worth.

===============================================================================

So I'm done for awhile. Set my champion girl up in the Lucky 38 with all her buddies ED-E, Boone, Cass, Veronica, and Raul, and devoted one of the weapons trunks to just the GRA weapons. Will get back to her in awhile, and do the last DLC for her file, Dead Money, and see if the ED-E problem has been fixed, because that is why I haven't done the DLC on this file. Because of the last time I did it, it screwed up ED-E. After doing Lonesome Road, surely you all see how important ED-E is to the game now. Tonight at midnight RAGE is delivered, but I'm not going to pick mine up until tomorrow, it's not like it's a GTA or Fallout game, besides tonight is a drinking night so no driving. It may be a wasteland game but it is still not a Fallout game.

Besides, there's no way that RAGE could be as fun as Fallout right?

Hey guys, what's up with the next Fallout game? :jumpy:

Yeah, I already got the Katana from the Gun Runners, so I'm not really sweating it. They're fucking dead meat. I followed the same path as you, just haven't done as much with the Followers - so I could possibly repair that bond, but it's not worth it on this save file.

It's all about the final kill. The robot/deathclaw/cazadores challenges can all be completed by using one of the weapons as the KILL weapon. I've been disabling Deathclaw legs with guns and then heaving dynamite at them, while running away. That challenge is in the bag.

i started my new character last night but i am too drunk to play him tonight... not that i don't play drunk, it's just that i would probably stay up until 4 am playing and i don't want to do that... i still have a daytime schedule to keep up, stoic works the 9 to 5 too and knows where i am coming from... unfortunately i don't make the dough so i also have to work a couple nights too at the local pub...

otherwise i would be past primm by now and into the divide... yes, i am going to make it through the first silo low leveled, and willing to turn back after the encounter at the end, just to get a couple weapons and armor... plus ED-E's first, and "most valuable EVER" upgrade... i am playing on normal, but survival is the tagged health path instead of medicine...should be fun, roscoe is well on his way to doing what's best for roscoe... good times, survival and the most profitable approach to insuring his status in the mojave, the independent route... being unpredictable and changing alliances if the right situation appeals to him... channeling his inner, "ricky henderson" and doing what's best for ricky henderson and keeping ricky henderson's status in tact...

doing what it takes to survive in the mojave... after finishing the last DLC twice i got this vibe that;

the courier was a pretty influentially neutral being making a name for himself by carving out this route that no one else would trek... that same influence is something that i picked up with the other DLC's looking back... i was always the least expected, or the one that showed up with that pipboy to make things better, and was always the 6th courier degree in the whole story... it was a destiny, and i am going to treat my next character like that... a character that listens to the people, and not the factions that surround them... i am pretty sure i will nuke both the NCR and legion at the end of lonesome road :D...

and speaking of carving out a path, i still don't know what that package was that changed the courier's path, which lead to the start of new vegas... i wanna say it was the chip man... but the divide was created before that years ago... it very well could of been ED-E, or some damned holotape that probably has a tie in to the next fallout... goddam cliffhanger!!!

It was ED-E. Ulysses says it, he's just not very clear about it.

It was the ED-E copy from the Divide, not the actual ED-E. The courier delivered it from Navarro. It didn't pick up the memories of the ED-E from the Mojave until some time after the Hopeville was destroyed.

but, i have a strong feeling that the courier that brought the broken down ED-E to primm was you... the dude at the primm outpost mentioned that a courier brought it there, but he's old so i wouldn't expect him to remember which courier it was... perhaps it was ulysses??... dunno though of course...
