More interestingly, the FO Wikia page quoted Dr. Zimmer with this: "The Commonwealth itself is nothing but a war-ravaged quagmire of violence and despair. Inside the sealed environment of the Institute, however... The Institute's affairs are none of your concern. Your undeveloped mind couldn't even begin to comprehend what we've accomplished." Massacre 7646 Report post Posted November 24, 2013 The New England Commonwealth consisted of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut, but only the area around the Institute is still referred to as the Commonwealth. It's a name for the general area, like Capital Wasteland. It might include slivers of other states, like the Capital Wasteland included areas from Maryland and Virginia, or New Vegas included parts of California and Arizona, but it'll mainly be Massachusetts. Flamers always make short work of the 'lurk. It even pre-cooks your mirelurk cakes. I couldn't have said it better myself. Especially since the Flamer can be found early on.
